Details
A vulnerability was found in ownCloud up to 5.0.18/6.0.6/7.0.4 (Cloud Software) and classified as critical. This issue affects an unknown code block of the component Blacklist Filter. The manipulation as part of a UTF-8 Encoding leads to a injection vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-74. The product constructs all or part of a command, data structure, or record using externally-influenced input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special elements that could modify how it is parsed or interpreted when it is sent to a downstream component. Impacted is confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The summary by CVE is:
ownCloud Server before 5.0.19, 6.x before 6.0.7, and 7.x before 7.0.5 allows remote authenticated users to bypass the file blacklist and upload arbitrary files via a file path with UTF-8 encoding, as demonstrated by uploading a .htaccess file.
The weakness was disclosed 05/08/2015 by Lukas Reschke (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at owncloud.org. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2015-3013 since 04/08/2015. The attack may be initiated remotely. The requirement for exploitation is a simple authentication. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not publicly available.
