The weakness was presented 05/12/2015 by Gary Kwong, Andrew McCreight, Christian Holler, Jesse Ruderman, Mats Palmgren, Jon Coppeard and Milan Sreckovic as MFSA 2015-46 as confirmed security advisory (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at mozilla.org. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2015-2709 since 03/25/2015. The attack can be launched remotely. The exploitation doesn't need any form of authentication. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not publicly available.
The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 83389 (FreeBSD : mozilla -- multiple vulnerabilities (d9b43004-f5fd-4807-b1d7-dbf66455b244)), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment. It is assigned to the family FreeBSD Local Security Checks. The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 167833 (OpenSuSE Security Update for MozillaFirefox (openSUSE-SU-2015:0934-1)).
Upgrading to version 38 eliminates this vulnerability. A possible mitigation has been published immediately after the disclosure of the vulnerability.
