A vulnerability classified as critical has been found in Nagios XI 2012R1.5b (Log Management Software). This affects some unknown processing of the file nagiosxi/admin/commandline.php. The manipulation of the argument cname with an unknown input leads to a sql injection vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-89. The product constructs all or part of an SQL command using externally-influenced input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special elements that could modify the intended SQL command when it is sent to a downstream component. This is going to have an impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability.
The weakness was disclosed 02/03/2013 by James Clawson as not defined mailinglist post (Full-Disclosure). It is possible to read the advisory at seclists.org. The vendor was not involved in the public release. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to initiate the attack remotely. Required for exploitation is a authentication.
