A vulnerability was found in ThemePunch Slider Revolution Plugin up to 4.1 on WordPress (WordPress Plugin). It has been declared as critical. This vulnerability affects some unknown processing of the file wp-admin/admin-ajax.php. The manipulation of the argument img with an unknown input leads to a path traversal vulnerability. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. Directory traversal vulnerability in the Slider Revolution (revslider) plugin before 4.2 for WordPress allows remote attackers to read arbitrary files via a .. (dot dot) in the img parameter in a revslider_show_image action to wp-admin/admin-ajax.php.

The weakness was presented 06/30/2015 (Website). The advisory is available at plugins.trac.wordpress.org. This vulnerability was named CVE-2014-9734 since 06/30/2015.
