Multiple stack-based buffer overflows in Ipropsapi in Panasonic Security API (PS-API) ActiveX SDK before 8.10.18 allow remote attackers to execute arbitrary code via a long string in the (1) FilePassword property or to the (2) GetStringInfo method.
The weakness was presented 07/06/2015 by Ariele Caltabiano (Website). The advisory is available at security.panasonic.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2015-4647 since 06/18/2015. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not available.
Upgrading to version 8.10.18 eliminates this vulnerability. Furthermore it is possible to detect and prevent this kind of attack with TippingPoint and the filter 19546.
