A vulnerability has been found in WatchGuard XCS 9.2/10.0 and classified as critical. This vulnerability affects an unknown function of the file ADMIN/mailqueue.spl. Watchguard XCS 9.2 and 10.0 before build 150522 allow remote authenticated users to execute arbitrary commands via shell metacharacters the id parameter to ADMIN/mailqueue.spl.
The weakness was disclosed 07/08/2015 (Website). The advisory is available at watchguard.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2015-5453 since 07/08/2015. The attack can be initiated remotely. The successful exploitation requires a single authentication. Technical details and also a public exploit are known. This vulnerability is assigned to T1202 by the MITRE ATT&CK project.
A public exploit has been developed by Metasploit and been published 3 months after the advisory. It is possible to download the exploit at exploit-db.com. It is declared as proof-of-concept.
Upgrading to version 10.0 Build 150522 eliminates this vulnerability.
