This vulnerability is known as CVE-2015-1729 since 02/17/2015. The attack can be launched remotely. The exploitation doesn't need any form of authentication. The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 100244 (Microsoft Internet Explorer Cumulative Security Update (MS15-065)).
Applying the patch MS15-065 is able to eliminate this problem. The bugfix is ready for download at technet.microsoft.com. Furthermore it is possible to detect and prevent this kind of attack with TippingPoint and the filter 20041.
