The weakness was disclosed 07/15/2015 by Nicolas Joly with Alibaba Security Research Team as APSB15-15 as confirmed advisory (Website). The advisory is available at helpx.adobe.com. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2015-5097 since 06/26/2015. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. The exploitation doesn't require any form of authentication. Successful exploitation requires user interaction by the victim. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not available.
The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 84800 (Adobe Acrobat < 10.1.15 / 11.0.12 / 2015.006.30060 / 2015.008.20082 Multiple Vulnerabilities (APSB15-15)), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment. It is assigned to the family Windows. The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 123662 (Adobe Reader and Acrobat Multiple Vulnerabilities (APSB15-15)).
Upgrading to version 10.1.15 or 11.0.12 eliminates this vulnerability. Furthermore it is possible to detect and prevent this kind of attack with TippingPoint and the filter 20115.
