A vulnerability has been found in Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager up to 12.1 (Anti-Malware Software) and classified as critical. The management console in Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager (SEPM) 12.1 before 12.1-RU6-MP1 allows remote authenticated users to write to arbitrary files, and consequently obtain administrator privileges, via a crafted filename.
The weakness was published 08/01/2015 by Markus Wulftange with Code White (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at symantec.com. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2015-1487 since 02/05/2015. The attack can be launched remotely. A single authentication is required for exploitation.
