A vulnerability was found in Linux Kernel (Operating System) (the affected version unknown). It has been rated as problematic. This issue affects an unknown part of the component SCTP. Race condition in net/sctp/socket.c in the Linux kernel before 4.1.2 allows local users to cause a denial of service (list corruption and panic) via a rapid series of system calls related to sockets, as demonstrated by setsockopt calls.

The weakness was disclosed 06/12/2015 with Red Hat as confirmed git commit (GIT Repository). The advisory is shared at git.kernel.org. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2015-3212 since 04/10/2015. An attack has to be approached locally. A simple authentication is necessary for exploitation. Neither technical details nor an exploit are publicly available.

The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 84925 (Amazon Linux AMI : kernel (ALAS-2015-565)), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment. It is assigned to the family Amazon Linux Local Security Checks and running in the context l.
