vos in OpenAFS before 1.6.13, when updating VLDB entries, allows remote attackers to obtain stack data by sniffing the network.
The weakness was disclosed 08/12/2015 (Website). The advisory is available at openafs.org. This vulnerability was named CVE-2015-3282 since 04/10/2015. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not available. This vulnerability is assigned to T1592 by the MITRE ATT&CK project.
The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 85129 (Debian DSA-3320-1 : openafs - security update), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment. Upgrading to version 1.6.13 eliminates this vulnerability.
