The kernel in Apple OS X before 10.10.5 does not properly mount HFS volumes, which allows local users to cause a denial of service via a crafted volume.

The weakness was presented 08/11/2015 by Maxime Villard with Google Security Team as HT205031 as confirmed advisory (Website). The advisory is shared for download at support.apple.com. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2015-5748 since 08/06/2015. The attack needs to be approached locally. The exploitation doesn't require any form of authentication.
