A vulnerability was found in VideoLAN VLC Media Player up to 2.1.x (Multimedia Player Software). It has been declared as problematic. Affected by this vulnerability is the function httpd_HtmlError of the file network/httpd.c. The manipulation of the argument path info with an unknown input leads to a cross site scripting vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-79. Cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability in the httpd_HtmlError function in network/httpd.c in the web interface in VideoLAN VLC Media Player before 2.2.0 allows remote attackers to inject arbitrary web script or HTML via the path info.
