A vulnerability was found in SAP NetWeaver 7.x (Solution Stack Software). It has been classified as critical. This affects the function MsJ2EE_AddStatistics of the file msg_server.exe. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a memory corruption vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-119. The product performs operations on a memory buffer, but it can read from or write to a memory location that is outside of the intended boundary of the buffer. This is going to have an impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability.

The weakness was disclosed 02/13/2013 by Martin Gallo with Core Secuity Technologies (Website). The advisory is shared at websmp130.sap-ag.de. The public release has been coordinated in cooperation with SAP. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2013-1592 since 02/04/2013. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to initiate the attack remotely. No form of authentication is needed for exploitation. Technical details and a public exploit are known.

A public exploit has been developed by Martin Gallo in Python and been published immediately after the advisory. The exploit is shared for download at exploit-db.com. It is declared as proof-of-concept. We expect the 0-day to have been worth approximately $25k-$100k.
