Details
A vulnerability was found in OpenSSH up to 6.x on Non-OpenBSD (Connectivity Software) and classified as problematic. Affected by this issue is an unknown code of the file monitor.c of the component sshd. The manipulation as part of a MONITOR_REQ_PAM_INIT_CTX Request leads to a input validation vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-20. The product receives input or data, but it does
not validate or incorrectly validates that the input has the
properties that are required to process the data safely and
correctly. Impacted is confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:
The monitor component in sshd in OpenSSH before 7.0 on non-OpenBSD platforms accepts extraneous username data in MONITOR_REQ_PAM_INIT_CTX requests, which allows local users to conduct impersonation attacks by leveraging any SSH login access in conjunction with control of the sshd uid to send a crafted MONITOR_REQ_PWNAM request, related to monitor.c and monitor_wrap.c.
