A vulnerability was found in sblim-sfcb 1.3.4/1.3.18. It has been declared as problematic. Affected by this vulnerability is the function lookupProviders of the file providerMgr.c. The manipulation of the argument classname with the input value <empty> leads to a null pointer dereference vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-476. A NULL pointer dereference occurs when the application dereferences a pointer that it expects to be valid, but is NULL, typically causing a crash or exit. The lookupProviders function in providerMgr.c in sblim-sfcb 1.3.4 and 1.3.18 allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (NULL pointer dereference and application crash) via an empty className in a packet.
The weakness was disclosed 09/28/2015 by Qinghao Tang (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at openwall.com. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2015-5185 since 07/01/2015.
