A vulnerability classified as very critical has been found in Nagios Remote Plugin Executor up to 2.13 (Log Management Software). Incomplete blacklist vulnerability in nrpc.c in Nagios Remote Plug-In Executor (NRPE) before 2.14 might allow remote attackers to execute arbitrary shell commands via "$()" shell metacharacters, which are processed by bash.
The weakness was released 02/21/2013 by Rudolph Pereir with OccamSec as File 120507/Nag as confirmed advisory (Packetstorm). The advisory is shared at packetstormsecurity.com. The public release was coordinated with Nagios. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2013-1362 since 01/14/2013. The exploitability is told to be easy.
