The arkeiad daemon in the Arkeia Backup Agent in Western Digital Arkeia 11.0.12 and earlier allows remote attackers to bypass authentication and execute arbitrary commands via a series of crafted requests involving the ARKFS_EXEC_CMD operation.

The weakness was disclosed 10/05/2015 (Website). The advisory is shared at exploit-db.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2015-7709 since 10/05/2015. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. Technical details are unknown but a public exploit is available.
