Buffer overflow in the broker service in Adobe Flash Player before 10.3.183.67 and 11.x before 11.6.602.171 on Windows and Mac OS X, and before 10.3.183.67 and 11.x before 11.2.202.273 on Linux, allows attackers to execute arbitrary code via unspecified vectors.
The weakness was published 02/26/2013 by Mark Yason with IBM ISS X-Force as apsb13-08 as confirmed knowledge base article (Website). The advisory is available at adobe.com. The public release has been coordinated with the vendor. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2013-0504 since 12/16/2012. The exploitability is told to be difficult. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. The exploitation doesn't require any form of authentication. Technical details are unknown but a private exploit is available.
It is declared as proof-of-concept. The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 75293 (openSUSE Security Update : flash-player (openSUSE-SU-2014:0377-1)), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment. It is assigned to the family SuSE Local Security Checks. The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 166863 (OpenSuSE Security Update for flash-player (openSUSE-SU-2014:0377-1)).
Upgrading to version 11.6.602.171 eliminates this vulnerability. A possible mitigation has been published immediately after the disclosure of the vulnerability.
