The weakness was disclosed 03/04/2013 by Atte Kettunen with Oulu University Secure Programming Group as 168982 as confirmed changelog entry (Website). The advisory is available at code.google.com. The public release has been coordinated in cooperation with the vendor. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2013-0905 since 01/07/2013. The exploitation is known to be difficult. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation. Technical details are unknown but a public exploit is available.

It is declared as proof-of-concept. As 0-day the estimated underground price was around $25k-$100k. Upgrading to version 25.0.1364.152 eliminates this vulnerability. The upgrade is hosted for download at chrome.google.com. Applying a patch is able to eliminate this problem.
