A vulnerability was found in Apple Mac OS X up to 10.11.0 (Operating System) and classified as critical. This issue affects an unknown part of the component Grand Central Dispatch. Grand Central Dispatch in Apple iOS before 9.1, OS X before 10.11.1, and watchOS before 2.0.1 allows attackers to execute arbitrary code or cause a denial of service (memory corruption) via a crafted package that is mishandled during dispatch calls.
The weakness was shared 10/21/2015 with Apple as HT205375 as confirmed advisory (Website). The advisory is shared at support.apple.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2015-6989 since 09/16/2015. The exploitation is known to be difficult. The attack may be initiated remotely. A memory corruption issue existed in the handling of dispatch calls. This issue was addressed through improved memory handling.

It is assigned to the family MacOS X Local Security Checks. Upgrading to version 10.11.1 eliminates this vulnerability. A possible mitigation has been published immediately after the disclosure of the vulnerability.
