A vulnerability classified as critical was found in MiniUPnP Client up to 1.9. This vulnerability affects the function IGDstartelt of the file igd_desc_parse.c of the component XML Element Name Handler. Buffer overflow in the IGDstartelt function in igd_desc_parse.c in the MiniUPnP client (aka MiniUPnPc) before 1.9.20150917 allows remote UPNP servers to cause a denial of service (application crash) and possibly execute arbitrary code via an "oversized" XML element name.
The weakness was shared 11/02/2015 (Website). The advisory is available at github.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2015-6031 since 08/14/2015. The attack can be initiated remotely.
