A vulnerability, which was classified as critical, has been found in Microsoft Internet Explorer 10 (Web Browser). This issue affects some unknown processing. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a memory corruption vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-119. The weakness was presented 12/08/2015 by Moritz Jodeit as MS15-124 as confirmed bulletin (Technet). It is possible to read the advisory at technet.microsoft.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2015-6152 since 08/14/2015. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. It demands that the victim is doing some kind of user interaction. Technical details are unknown but a public exploit is available.

A public exploit has been developed by Moritz Jodeit and been published 6 days after the advisory. The exploit is available at exploit-db.com. It is declared as proof-of-concept. We expect the 0-day to have been worth approximately $25k-$100k. The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 87253 (MS15-124: Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer (3116180)), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment. The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 100269 (Microsoft Internet Explorer Cumulative Security Update (MS15-124)).
