Multiple stack-based buffer overflows in Advantech WebAccess before 8.1 allow remote attackers to execute arbitrary code via unspecified vectors.
The weakness was presented 01/15/2016 by Positive Technologies with Positive Technologies (Website). The advisory is shared at ics-cert.us-cert.gov. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2016-0856 since 12/16/2015. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. Upgrading to version 8.1 eliminates this vulnerability. Furthermore it is possible to detect and prevent this kind of attack with TippingPoint and the filter 20812.
