WebKit, as used in Apple iOS before 9.2.1, Safari before 9.0.3, and tvOS before 9.1.1, allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code or cause a denial of service (memory corruption) via a crafted web site, a different vulnerability than CVE-2016-1727.
The weakness was disclosed 01/19/2016 by Joe Vennix with Apple as HT205732 as confirmed advisory (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at support.apple.com. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2016-1724 since 01/13/2016. The attack can be launched remotely. The exploitation doesn't need any form of authentication. Multiple memory corruption issues existed in WebKit. These issues were addressed through improved memory handling.

It is assigned to the family Misc. and running in the context r. Upgrading to version 9.2.1 eliminates this vulnerability. A possible mitigation has been published immediately after the disclosure of the vulnerability.
