Details
A vulnerability was found in MIT Kerberos 5-1.14 (Network Authentication Software). It has been classified as problematic. This affects the function rb5_unparse_name. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a memory corruption vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-119. The product performs operations on a memory buffer, but it can read from or write to a memory location that is outside of the intended boundary of the buffer. This is going to have an impact on availability.
The weakness was disclosed 02/03/2016 as confirmed git commit (GIT Repository). The advisory is shared at github.com. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2015-8631 since 12/23/2015. Applying a patch is able to eliminate this problem. The bugfix is ready for download at github.com. A possible mitigation has been published 3 weeks after the disclosure of the vulnerability.
