A vulnerability was found in EMC Documentum xCP up to 2.1 Patch 22/2.2 Patch 10 (Content Management System). It has been rated as critical. This issue affects an unknown function of the component POST Request Handler. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a xml external entity reference vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-611. The product processes an XML document that can contain XML entities with URIs that resolve to documents outside of the intended sphere of control, causing the product to embed incorrect documents into its output. EMC Documentum xCP 2.1 before patch 23 and 2.2 before patch 11 allows remote authenticated users to read arbitrary files via a POST request containing an XML external entity declaration in conjunction with an entity reference, related to an XML External Entity (XXE) issue.
The weakness was disclosed 02/12/2016 (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at seclists.org. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2016-0882 since 12/16/2015. The attack may be initiated remotely. The successful exploitation requires a simple authentication. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not publicly available.
