A vulnerability was found in phpMyAdmin up to 4.5.3 (Database Administration Software). It has been declared as problematic. Affected by this vulnerability is an unknown code in the library libraries/sql-parser/autoload.php of the component SQL Parser. libraries/sql-parser/autoload.php in the SQL parser in phpMyAdmin 4.5.x before 4.5.4 allows remote attackers to obtain sensitive information via a crafted request, which reveals the full path in an error message.
The weakness was presented 02/20/2016 by Emanuel Bronshtein (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at github.com. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2016-2044 since 01/21/2016. The attack can be launched remotely. The exploitation doesn't need any form of authentication. Technical details of the vulnerability are known, but there is no available exploit. It is assigned to the family FreeBSD Local Security Checks and running in the context l. The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 124678 (Fedora Security Update for phpMyAdmin (FEDORA-2016-e55278763e)).
Upgrading to version 4.5.4 eliminates this vulnerability. A possible mitigation has been published before and not just after the disclosure of the vulnerability.
