A vulnerability classified as problematic was found in Moodle up to 2.6.11/2.7.10/2.8.8/2.9.2 (Learning Management Software). Affected by this vulnerability is some unknown functionality of the file admin/registration/register.php. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a cross-site request forgery vulnerability. Cross-site request forgery (CSRF) vulnerability in admin/registration/register.php in Moodle through 2.6.11, 2.7.x before 2.7.11, 2.8.x before 2.8.9, and 2.9.x before 2.9.3 allows remote attackers to hijack the authentication of administrators for requests that send statistics to an arbitrary hub URL.
The weakness was published 02/22/2016 by Andrew (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at moodle.org. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2015-5335 since 07/01/2015. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be launched remotely. The exploitation doesn't need any form of authentication. It demands that the victim is doing some kind of user interaction. Technical details of the vulnerability are known, but there is no available exploit.

Upgrading to version 2.7.10, 2.8.9 or 2.9.3 eliminates this vulnerability. A possible mitigation has been published even before and not after the disclosure of the vulnerability.
