A vulnerability was found in Apache Tomcat 7.0/8.0/9.0 (Application Server Software). It has been classified as critical. Affected is an unknown code. The manipulation of the argument requestedSessionSSL with an unknown input leads to a session fixiation vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-384. Authenticating a user, or otherwise establishing a new user session, without invalidating any existing session identifier gives an attacker the opportunity to steal authenticated sessions. This is going to have an impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability.

The weakness was presented 02/22/2016 as confirmed mailinglist post (Bugtraq). The advisory is available at seclists.org. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2015-5346 since 07/01/2015. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. The exploitation doesn't require any form of authentication.
