Details
A vulnerability, which was classified as very critical, has been found in Apache Xerces-C up to 3.1.2. This issue affects an unknown code block of the file internal/XMLReader.cpp. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a memory corruption vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-119. The product performs operations on a memory buffer, but it can read from or write to a memory location that is outside of the intended boundary of the buffer. Impacted is confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The summary by CVE is:
Multiple buffer overflows in (1) internal/XMLReader.cpp, (2) util/XMLURL.cpp, and (3) util/XMLUri.cpp in the XML Parser library in Apache Xerces-C before 3.1.3 allow remote attackers to cause a denial of service (segmentation fault or memory corruption) or possibly execute arbitrary code via a crafted document.
