A vulnerability, which was classified as critical, has been found in WebkitGTK+ (Web Browser) (version unknown). This issue affects an unknown function of the component HTML Render Engine. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a memory corruption vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-119. The product performs operations on a memory buffer, but it can read from or write to a memory location that is outside of the intended boundary of the buffer. Impacted is confidentiality, integrity, and availability.

The weakness was presented 03/30/2011 by Abhishek Arya (Inferno) with Google Chrome Security as 82503 as not defined changelog entry (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at trac.webkit.org. The public release was coordinated in cooperation with the project team. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2011-1791 since 04/20/2011. The exploitation is known to be difficult. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. Technical details are unknown but a public exploit is available.

The exploit is available at code.google.com. It is declared as proof-of-concept.
