A vulnerability, which was classified as problematic, has been found in Oracle Database (Database Software) (the affected version unknown). Affected by this issue is the function NUMTODSINTERVAL. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a memory corruption vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-119. The product performs operations on a memory buffer, but it can read from or write to a memory location that is outside of the intended boundary of the buffer. Impacted is confidentiality, integrity, and availability.
The bug was discovered 12/12/2003. The weakness was presented 02/06/2004 (Website). The advisory is available at nextgenss.com. Local access is required to approach this attack. A simple authentication is necessary for exploitation. Technical details are known, but there is no available exploit.
