A vulnerability was found in Apache Ranger up to 0.4.x. It has been rated as problematic. Affected by this issue is an unknown code block of the component Policy Admin Tool. Cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability in the Policy Admin Tool in Apache Ranger before 0.5.0 allows remote attackers to inject arbitrary web script or HTML via the HTTP User-Agent header.
The weakness was disclosed 04/11/2016 (Website). The advisory is shared for download at securityfocus.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2015-0265 since 11/18/2014. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation. Successful exploitation requires user interaction by the victim. Upgrading to version 0.5.0 eliminates this vulnerability.
