A vulnerability was found in Microsoft SharePoint Server 2010 SP1 (Groupware Software). It has been declared as problematic. Cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability in Microsoft SharePoint Server 2010 SP1, Groove Server 2010 SP1, SharePoint Foundation 2010 SP1, and Office Web Apps 2010 SP1 allows remote attackers to inject arbitrary web script or HTML via a crafted string, aka "HTML Sanitization Vulnerability."

The weakness was released 04/09/2013 by Drew Hintz with Google Security Team as MS13-035 as confirmed bulletin (Microsoft Technet). The advisory is available at technet.microsoft.com. The public release was coordinated with the vendor. This vulnerability was named CVE-2013-1289 since 01/12/2013. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. Successful exploitation requires user interaction by the victim. Technical details are unknown but a private exploit is available. This vulnerability is assigned to T1059.007 by the MITRE ATT&CK project.

It is declared as attacked. The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 65882 (MS13-035: Vulnerability in HTML Sanitization Component Could Allow Elevation of Privilege (2821818)), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment.
