A vulnerability, which was classified as problematic, has been found in DCP-Portal (Content Management System) (version now known). Affected by this issue is some unknown processing of the file announcement.php. The manipulation of the argument cid with an unknown input leads to a cross site scripting vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-80. The product receives input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special characters such as "<", ">", and "&" that could be interpreted as web-scripting elements when they are sent to a downstream component that processes web pages. Impacted is integrity.
The weakness was disclosed 08/28/2004 by Alexander Antipov with SecurityLab.RU (Website). The advisory is shared for download at archives.neohapsis.com. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be launched remotely. Successful exploitation requires user interaction by the victim. Technical details as well as a exploit are known. The MITRE ATT&CK project declares the attack technique as T1059.007.
After before and not just, there has been an exploit disclosed. It is declared as proof-of-concept. By approaching the search of inurl:announcement.php it is possible to find vulnerable targets with Google Hacking.
There is no information about possible countermeasures known. It may be suggested to replace the affected object with an alternative product.
