A vulnerability has been found in D-Link DIR Router (Router Operating System) and classified as critical. Affected by this vulnerability is an unknown part of the file diagnostic.php of the component Parameter Validation Handler. The manipulation of the argument dst with an unknown input leads to a remote code execution vulnerability. As an impact it is known to affect confidentiality, integrity, and availability.

The bug was discovered 12/14/2012. The weakness was released 04/05/2013 by Michael Messner (m1k3) with s3cur1ty as confirmed exploit (Website). The advisory is shared at s3cur1ty.de. The public release was coordinated with D-Link. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be launched remotely. The exploitation doesn't need any form of authentication. Technical details and also a public exploit are known.

A public exploit has been developed by m-1-k-3 in Ruby and been published 4 days after the advisory. It is possible to download the exploit at github.com. It is declared as proof-of-concept. The vulnerability was handled as a non-public zero-day exploit for at least 112 days. During that time the estimated underground price was around $25k-$100k. By approaching the search of inurl:diagnostic.php it is possible to find vulnerable targets with Google Hacking.
