A vulnerability was found in Ipswitch MOVEit File Transfer up to 8.1 (File Transfer Software) and classified as problematic. This issue affects some unknown processing of the component File View on Download Handler. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a cross site scripting vulnerability. Ipswitch MOVEit File Transfer (formerly DMZ) 8.1 and earlier, when configured to support file view on download, allows remote authenticated users to conduct cross-site scripting (XSS) attacks by uploading HTML files.
The weakness was published 04/15/2016 (Website). The advisory is shared at packetstormsecurity.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2015-7676 since 10/02/2015. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be initiated remotely. Required for exploitation is a simple authentication. It demands that the victim is doing some kind of user interaction. Neither technical details nor an exploit are publicly available. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1059.007 for this issue.
The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 370009 (Ipswitch MOVEit DMZ Multiple Vulnerabilities.).
