A vulnerability was found in F-Secure Anti-Virus Internet Gatekeeper (Anti-Malware Software) (affected version not known) and classified as problematic. This issue affects some unknown functionality of the file dns_suid.cgi. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a privileges management vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-269. The product does not properly assign, modify, track, or check privileges for an actor, creating an unintended sphere of control for that actor. Impacted is confidentiality, integrity, and availability.
The bug was discovered 09/29/2005. The weakness was disclosed 11/07/2005 by Xavier de Leon (Website). The advisory is shared at tigerteam.se. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2005-3546. An attack has to be approached locally. A simple authentication is required for exploitation. Technical details as well as a public exploit are known. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1068 for this issue.
A public exploit has been developed by Xavier de Leon and been published even before and not after the advisory. The exploit is available at securiteam.com. It is declared as proof-of-concept. The vulnerability was handled as a non-public zero-day exploit for at least 39 days. During that time the estimated underground price was around $0-$5k.
