A vulnerability has been found in SAP NetWeaver (Solution Stack Software) (affected version unknown) and classified as problematic. Affected by this vulnerability is an unknown functionality of the component ABAP XML External Entity Data Parser. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a information disclosure vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-200. The product exposes sensitive information to an actor that is not explicitly authorized to have access to that information. As an impact it is known to affect confidentiality.
The weakness was disclosed 03/13/2012 by Alexey Tyurin with ERPScan as DSECRG-12-025 as not defined advisory (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at service.sap.com. The public release has been coordinated in cooperation with SAP. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be launched remotely. The exploitation doesn't need any form of authentication. Technical details are unknown but a private exploit is available. The attack technique deployed by this issue is T1592 according to MITRE ATT&CK.
It is declared as proof-of-concept. The vulnerability was handled as a non-public zero-day exploit for at least 184 days. During that time the estimated underground price was around $5k-$25k.
