A vulnerability classified as problematic was found in Vikingboard (Forum Software) (affected version not known). Affected by this vulnerability is some unknown functionality of the file user.php. The manipulation of the argument u with an unknown input leads to a cross site scripting vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-80. The product receives input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special characters such as "<", ">", and "&" that could be interpreted as web-scripting elements when they are sent to a downstream component that processes web pages. As an impact it is known to affect integrity.
The weakness was presented 07/25/2007 by Lostmon (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at lostmon.blogspot.com. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2007-4088 since 07/30/2007. The attack can be launched remotely. The exploitation doesn't need any form of authentication. It demands that the victim is doing some kind of user interaction. Technical details of the vulnerability are known, but there is no available exploit. The attack technique deployed by this issue is T1059.007 according to MITRE ATT&CK.
After immediately, there has been an exploit disclosed. By approaching the search of inurl:user.php it is possible to find vulnerable targets with Google Hacking.
