The agent in Apache Ambari before 2.1.2 uses weak permissions for the (1) /var/lib/ambari-agent/data and (2) /var/lib/ambari-agent/keys directories, which allows local users to obtain sensitive information by reading files in the directories.
The weakness was shared 05/18/2016 (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at cwiki.apache.org. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2016-0707 since 12/16/2015. The exploitation is known to be easy. Attacking locally is a requirement. A simple authentication is needed for exploitation. Technical details of the vulnerability are known, but there is no available exploit. The attack technique deployed by this issue is T1068 according to MITRE ATT&CK.
Upgrading to version 2.1.2 eliminates this vulnerability.
