The mw_editPost function in wp-includes/class-wp-xmlrpc-server.php in the XMLRPC subsystem in WordPress before 4.3.1 allows remote authenticated users to bypass intended access restrictions, and arrange for a private post to be published and sticky, via unspecified vectors.
The weakness was disclosed 05/22/2016 by Netanel Rubin with Check Point (Website). The advisory is available at wordpress.org. This vulnerability was named CVE-2015-5715 since 08/02/2015. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be initiated remotely. Required for exploitation is a single authentication. Successful exploitation requires user interaction by the victim. Technical details are known, but there is no available exploit. This vulnerability is assigned to T1068 by the MITRE ATT&CK project.
