A vulnerability has been found in PHP up to 5.5.21/5.6.5 (Programming Language Software) and classified as critical. Affected by this vulnerability is some unknown functionality in the library ext/libxml/libxml.c of the component PHP-FPM. ext/libxml/libxml.c in PHP before 5.5.22 and 5.6.x before 5.6.6, when PHP-FPM is used, does not isolate each thread from libxml_disable_entity_loader changes in other threads, which allows remote attackers to conduct XML External Entity (XXE) and XML Entity Expansion (XEE) attacks via a crafted XML document, a related issue to CVE-2015-5161.

The weakness was published 05/22/2016 (Website). The advisory is shared at bugs.php.net. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2015-8866 since 04/23/2016. The attack can be launched remotely. The exploitation doesn't need any form of authentication. Technical details are known, but no exploit is available.
