A vulnerability has been found in Expat (affected version not known) and classified as very critical. This vulnerability affects some unknown functionality of the component Document Handler. Expat allows context-dependent attackers to cause a denial of service (crash) or possibly execute arbitrary code via a malformed input document, which triggers a buffer overflow.
The weakness was presented 05/26/2016 by Gustavo Grieco as Bug 1296102 as confirmed bug report (Bugzilla). The advisory is shared for download at bugzilla.redhat.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2016-0718 since 12/16/2015. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation.
