Details
A vulnerability classified as critical has been found in Stephen Adkins Perl up to 0.9661 (Programming Language Software). Affected is the function Storable::thaw of the component App::Context CPAN Module. The manipulation of the argument App::Session::Cookie/App::Session::HTMLHidden with an unknown input leads to a code injection vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-94. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2012-6141 since 12/06/2012. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. The exploitation doesn't require any form of authentication. Technical details are known, but there is no available exploit. This vulnerability is assigned to T1059 by the MITRE ATT&CK project.
Upgrading to version 2.40 eliminates this vulnerability. Applying a patch is able to eliminate this problem. The bugfix is ready for download at perl5.git.perl.org. A possible mitigation has been published immediately after the disclosure of the vulnerability.
