A vulnerability classified as critical has been found in Mozilla Firefox up to 46 on Windows (Web Browser). Affected is the function TSymbolTableLevel. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a memory corruption vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-119. The product performs operations on a memory buffer, but it can read from or write to a memory location that is outside of the intended boundary of the buffer. The TSymbolTableLevel class in ANGLE, as used in Mozilla Firefox before 47.0 and Firefox ESR 45.x before 45.2 on Windows, allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (out-of-bounds write and application crash) or possibly have unspecified other impact by triggering use of a WebGL shader that writes to an array.
The weakness was shared 06/13/2016 by Jordi Chancel with Mozilla Developers (Website). The advisory is available at bugzilla.mozilla.org. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2016-2824 since 03/01/2016. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. The exploitation doesn't require any form of authentication.
