A vulnerability, which was classified as problematic, has been found in Novell NetWare 5.0/5.1 (Operating System). Novell NetWare 5.1 installs sample applications that allow remote attackers to obtain sensitive information via (1) ndsobj.nlm, (2) allfield.jse, (3) websinfo.bas, (4) ndslogin.pl, (5) volscgi.pl, (6) lancgi.pl, (7) test.jse, or (8) env.pl.
The weakness was disclosed 02/01/2004 with ProCheckUp (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at kb.cert.org. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2002-1634 since 03/28/2005. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. Technical details as well as a public exploit are known. The attack technique deployed by this issue is T1592 according to MITRE ATT&CK.
The exploit is available at exploit-db.com. It is declared as proof-of-concept. The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 12049 (Novonyx Web Server Multiple Sample Application Files Present), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment. It is assigned to the family Netware and running in the context r. The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 86428 (Netscape Enterprise Web Server for Netware Information Disclosure Vulnerability).
