WebKit in Apple iOS before 9.3.3 and Safari before 9.1.2 mishandles about: URLs, which allows remote attackers to bypass the Same Origin Policy via a crafted web site.
The weakness was shared 07/18/2016 by xisigr with Tencent as HT206900 as confirmed advisory (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at support.apple.com. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2016-4590 since 05/11/2016. It is possible to initiate the attack remotely. No form of authentication is needed for exploitation. An origin inheritance issue existed in parsing of about: URLs. This was addressed through improved validation of security origins.
