Oracle ILOM 3.0/3.1/3.2 memory corruption

CVSS Meta Temp Score
CVSS is a standardized scoring system to determine possibilities of attacks. The Temp Score considers temporal factors like disclosure, exploit and countermeasures. The unique Meta Score calculates the average score of different sources to provide a normalized scoring system.
Current Exploit Price (≈)
Our analysts are monitoring exploit markets and are in contact with vulnerability brokers. The range indicates the observed or calculated exploit price to be seen on exploit markets. A good indicator to understand the monetary effort required for and the popularity of an attack.
CTI Interest Score
Our Cyber Threat Intelligence team is monitoring different web sites, mailing lists, exploit markets and social media networks. The CTI Interest Score identifies the interest of attackers and the security community for this specific vulnerability in real-time. A high score indicates an elevated risk to be targeted for this vulnerability.

The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a memory corruption vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-119. The product performs operations on a memory buffer, but it can read from or write to a memory location that is outside of the intended boundary of the buffer. As an impact it is known to affect confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:

Stack-based buffer overflow in lib/sh/eaccess.c in GNU Bash before 4.2 patch 33 might allow local users to bypass intended restricted shell access via a long filename in /dev/fd, which is not properly handled when expanding the /dev/fd prefix.

The weakness was disclosed 07/19/2016 by Henri Salo as Oracle Critical Patch Update Advisory - July 2016 as confirmed advisory (Website). The advisory is available at oracle.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2012-3410 since 06/14/2012. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be initiated remotely. Required for exploitation is a single authentication. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not available. The structure of the vulnerability defines a possible price range of USD $5k-$25k at the moment (estimation calculated on 03/05/2019).

As 0-day the estimated underground price was around $100k and more. The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 62650 (GLSA-201210-05 : Bash: Multiple vulnerabilities), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment. It is assigned to the family Gentoo Local Security Checks and running in the context l. The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 167142 (SUSE Enterprise Linux Security Update for bash (SUSE-SU-2014:1214-1) (Shellshock)).

Upgrading eliminates this vulnerability. A possible mitigation has been published immediately after the disclosure of the vulnerability.

The vulnerability is also documented in the databases at X-Force (77551), Tenable (62650), SecurityFocus (BID 54937†) and Secunia (SA51086†).
